    Pilot

In the series premiere episode, once-successful patent attorney Harriet Korn is fired and decides to begin anew with her own practice. With the help of her happy go lucky secretary, Jenna, she sets up shop in an abandoned shoe store in a rough section of Cincinnati. Her first case is to defend Malcolm Davies, a troubled young man, facing his third drug offense. Meanwhile, up and coming attorney Adam Branch joins the firm, and defends Damian Winslow, a "private security officer" after he shoots a man who is attempting to rob a laundromat.

  2. Episode 2

    Heat of Passion

Harry defends an impoverished 87-year-old woman who commits armed robbery to buy food. Meanwhile, in an attempt to impress a beautiful woman (guest star IRENE KENG), Adam takes on an unlikely case in which he must argue in favour of a local laundromat owner's strict "one child only" policy for his employees, but is shaken when opposing counsel is none other than flamboyant media hog Tommy Jefferson (guest star CHRISTOPHER MCDONALD).

  3. Episode 3

    The Innocent Man

After getting a tip from a bookie/priest, Harry helps defend Jeffrey Rollins (guest star STEVE HARRIS), an inmate serving life for a murder he did not commit. Meanwhile, legal woes continue to worsen for Lao's Laundromat after Adam risks disbarment by going behind Tommy's back to offer the fired employee her job back. Elsewhere, Malcolm and Tommy form an unlikely partnership when they team up to help an overweight woman sue multiple fast food giants.

  4. Episode 4

    Wheels Of Justice

Harry grows increasingly concerned about Malcolm's association with the over-the-top Tommy and their lawsuit. Meanwhile, Tommy struggles to be less ridiculous as he, his associate Lisa Swartz (guest star DANA SORMAN), and Malcolm argue in court against large fast-food corporations. In a shocking turn of events, Chunhua is attacked behind the laundromat. When her assailant is set free after cutting a deal, Damien risks serious jail time by taking justice into his own hands, while Adam finds comfort in his ex-girlfriend, Rachel Miller (special guest star JORDANA SPIRO).

  5. Episode 5

    A Day in the Life

When Harry discovers her client is guilty, she proclaims his guilt in front of the jury when she is not allowed to quit the case. Judge Marylin Coulis (guest star AMY AQUINO) has no choice but to find Harry in contempt and recommend her for permanent disbarment. Meanwhile, Malcolm goes undercover with Cincinnati's finest in exchange for an expunged criminal record; but when he realizes the sting will implicate his former best friend, Tank (guest star NEIL BROWN, JR.), Malcolm has second thoughts.

  6. Episode 6

    Bangers in the House

When a dispute between rival gangs threatens to turn violent, Harry and Malcolm become unlikely mediators, but soon find themselves butting heads when a gang member decides he wants out to start a better life. Harry goes out on a limb to help Lewis Epps get out of his gang alive. Elsewhere, Rachel and Adam team up to defend Allan Meade (guest star TOM WILSON) against a wrongful termination suit brought by an employee, Gerald Essex (guest star MAX GAIL), who claims he was let go for being too old. Across the aisle, Essex is represented by Tommy and Lisa (guest star DANA SORMAN).

  7. Episode 7

    American Dreamers

Tommy convinces Harry to help him represent four Albinos seeking asylum in the U.S. because of the dangers they face from albino hunters in their native Tanzania. Elsewhere, Jenna's car is stolen, but the thief, Jamaal Raines (guest star MICHAEL J. PAGAN), returns it in hopes that the firm will represent him on an unrelated theft charge. Jamaal's sister, Denise (guest star CANDICE PATTON), implores Malcolm to help; and there is an obvious chemistry between them. Back in the office, Jenna and Harry's relationship gets rocky when Harry makes a hurtful comment.

  8. Episode 8

    In the Ghetto

CAMRYN MANHEIM (Ghost Whisperer) guest stars. After a former gang member Lewis Epps falls prey to gang violence, Harry's legal team unites to save two peoples' lives. Adam is traumatized when he witnesses a gang related drive-by shooting, but is amazed when a teenaged, vigilante street doctor (guest star TREVOR JACKSON) tends to the victim before paramedics arrive. Adam represents the young doctor when his legal woes quickly escalate after A.D.A Kim Mendelsohn (guest star CAMRYN MANHEIM) realizes he was involved in the murder of a police officer.
