Kate's former school faces a potential lawsuit over the expulsion of a pupil who was accused of cheating. She tries to negotiate a settlement that will leave the school's reputation intact so Lauren can sign it up as a new client - but Kate's unhappy memories of the place threaten to cloud her judgement.

Ripple of Hope

When Kate meets a female prisoner, she becomes convinced the inmate is innocent and desperately tries to get her released and, surprisingly, receives Ben's backing. A graphic novelist also seeks the team's help to contest an unfair contract.

Episode 10

Shattered

Determined to do right by new client Cassandre-a nurse accused of negligence and facing deportation- Kate digs deeper into the case between a retirement facility and one of its residents, and discovers something surprising: an accused eco-terrorist who has been on the run for 20 years.

Episode 11

Borderline

At the behest of a client, Ben and Kate head to Lake Tahoe to sort out a jurisdictional dispute between the Nevada and California police departments. A body has been discovered on the state border, and thanks to some maneuvering on Ben's part Kate is granted the authority to decide who gets the case. Only problem is, Kate is less interested in picking sides than in getting justice for Carmen Cedeno, the 16-year-old girl whose body was found on the site.

But when Kate convinces him to join the band for an after party and the police find drugs in Claudia's purse, his thoughtful gesture lands him in the middle of a scandal that could destroy his campaign.
