Struggling to cope with her fiancé’s murder, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) sets her sights on those she holds responsible – Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson) and Patty Hewes (Glenn Close). Looking to ensure that Frobisher pays the ultimate price, Ellen cooperates with an FBI investigation of Patty. But when expert witness Daniel Purcell (William Hurt) looks to Patty for help in exposing a large energy company’s dumping of toxic waste, and then calls on her again to defend him when he’s suspected of murdering his wife, the secrets of their longtime association unravel, leaving a complex conspiracy where nothing is as it seems. As the various players work every angle to shield their own misdeeds while undermining friends and foes alike, Ellen is drawn deeper into a series of traps in which loyalty and trust are sacrificed and Patty pulls all the strings as she seeks justice for her clients.

    Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award winning actress Glenn Close has won an Emmy Award as Best Actress in a Drama Series, a Golden Globe (and was nominated for a SAG Award) as Best Actress in a TV Drama for her riveting performance as Patty Hewes in Damages.

    Glenn Close made her feature film debut in George Roy Hill’s The World According to Garp. Her performance in the film earned her awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics
    Association and the National Board of Review as well as an Academy Award nomination. She was subsequently Oscar® nominated for her performances in Lawrence Kasdan’s The Big Chill; Barry Levinson’s The Natural; Adrian Lyne’s smash Fatal Attraction; and Stephen Frears’ Dangerous Liaisons (for which she was also a BAFTA Award nominee). Close’s other films include Richard Marquand’s Jagged Edge; Barbet Schroeder’s Reversal of Fortune; Franco Zeffirelli’s Hamlet; István Szabó’s Meeting Venus; Ron Howard’s The Paper and Stephen Herek’s 101 Dalmatians;

    She has been nominated eight other times for a Golden Globe Award, winning for her performance in Andrei Konchalovsky’s television adaptation of The Lion in Winter (which also earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award).

    Close is a trustee emeritus of The Sundance Institute, with which she has been associated for more than 17 years. She is also a trustee of The Wildlife Conservation Society and volunteers at Fountain House in New York City, a facility dedicated to the recovery of men and women who suffer with mental illness.

    Rose Byrne

    In a short amount of time, Rose Byrne has established herself as a rising star of the big screen. The Australian native commands the attention of filmgoers with her beauty, talent, versatility and poise.

    Illustrating her inimitable range and versatility, Byrne has recently wrapped the mega-thriller Knowing with Nicolas Cage. Knowing is slated to be released on March 20th, 2009. She can also be seen in the upcoming film Adam, a unique love story set against the backdrop of Manhattan, with thespians Hugh Dancy and Peter Gallagher. A third upcoming project is the Australian film, The Tender Hook, the story of a woman named ‘Iris’ (Byrne) at the forefront of a love triangle that includes her English lover and a young boxer.

    Byrne’s fame in Australia began with her role in the gritty crime comedy Two Hands in which she starred with Heath Ledger. She went on to star in Clara Law’s The Goddess Of 1967 for which she was awarded Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival.

    Tate Donovan

    Tate Donovan has recently appeared in such feature films as The Shooter with Mark Wahlberg, Nancy Drew, and the Academy Award® nominated Good Night, and Good Luck, for which he also shared a 2006 SAG Award nomination. He will next be seen playing the title role in Neal Cassady for IFC and in the independent film American Primitive.

    On television, Donovan can be seen in The Cleaner and was a regular on the popular FOX series The O.C., playing ‘Jimmy Cooper,’ in which he also directed an episode. In addition, he helmed two episodes in season two of DAMAGES. Donovan was a regular on
    NBC’s Trinity and had recurring roles on the long-running Friends and Ally
    McBeal.

    On stage, Donovan performed in Rabbit Hole, which won an Ovation Award at the Geffen Theatre. His additional stage credits include Broadway’s Amy’s View with Dame Judi Dench; Picnic; and Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonnergan. He’s worked at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Roundabout, Mark Taper Forum and the Long Wharf.

    Born in Tenafly, New Jersey, Donovan moved to Los Angeles and began working as an actor while studying at the University of Southern California.

    William Hurt

    William Hurt trained at Tufts University and New York’s Juilliard School of Music and Drama. He has been nominated for four Academy Awards®, including the most recent nomination for his supporting role in David Cronenberg’s The History of Violence. The film screened at the both the Cannes International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. Hurt received Best Supporting Actor accolades for the role from the Los Angeles Film Critics Circle and the New York Film Critics Circle.

    Hurt was last seen in Marvel Studio’s The Incredible Hulk. Hurt stars as the villain ‘General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross’ opposite Edward Norton and Liv Tyler. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier and was released by Universal on June 13, 2008.

  • Wes Krulik

    Timothy Olyphant

    With an expansive list of diverse film and television credits, Timothy Olyphant is known for his poignant roles in both dramas and comedies. Recently, he starred opposite Steve Zahn in David Twohy’s A Perfect Getaway for Relativity Media, which revolves around a newlywed couple on their honeymoon in Hawaii who run into two hikers who turn out to be vicious killers. Olyphant also starred in the independent film High Life, directed by Gary Yates. The comedy centers around four hapless junkies who plan to rob a bank. These films are set to be released next year.

    In 2008 Olyphant starred in 20th Century Fox’s Hitman and Live Free Or Die Hard. Hitman, based on the popular video game and directed by Xavier Gans, centers around ‘Agent 47’ (Olyphant), who realizes he’s being pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Eastern Europe. In Live Free Or Die Hard, which was directed by Len Wiseman, Olyphant played ‘Thomas Gabriel’ an internet-based terrorist who ‘John McClaine’ (Bruce Willis) is trying to stop from systematically shutting down the United States.

    Marcia Gay Harden

    Award-winning Marcia Gay Harden has forged a remarkable body of work, always staying true to her chameleon style of “becoming thecharacter.” Her character portraits have been described by critics as “searing,” “heartbreaking,” “inventive,” “pure and profane simultaneously,” “astonishing,” “authentic,” and “sensuous”. From the glamorous ‘Ava Gardner’ in Sinatra, to the artist ‘Lee Krasner’ in Pollock (for which she won Best Supporting Actress Oscar), to the down and out ‘Cecelia’ in Mystic River (another Academy Award nomination) Harden has created a signature style based in character transformation.

    Harden has chosen a life away from mainstream Hollywood, crossing between independent and studio films, and television and theatre. She won a Tony® nomination for Tony Kushner’s Angels in America (for which she won the Drama Desk and Theatre World Awards), an Emmy® nomination for her guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU, and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for American Gun.

    Harden graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in Theatre and an M.F.A. from the Graduate Acting program at New York University. She resides in Harlem with her husband and three children.

    Ted Danson

    Ted Danson’s versatility in both television and film makes him one of the most accomplished and credible actors today. From his feature film debuts in Joseph Wambaugh’s The Onion Field in 1979 and Lawrence Kasdan’s Body Heat in 1981 to his starring role in the television series Cheers, Ted Danson has captivated worldwide audiences with his equally sensational dramatic and comedic performances.

    In his portrayal as 'Arthur Frobisher' on DAMAGES, he recently received an Emmy® and a Golden Globe® nomination for his performance.

    Danson has also appeared in several episodes of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm in a recurring role.
